To provide passengers with instant tickets inside trains during the Mahakumbh, the use of MUTS (Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System) given to TTEs will now be expanded on a large scale. TTEs equipped with MUTS will be stationed at the main entry and exit gates of railway stations to issue Tatkal tickets on the spot. This initiative will start from major stations like Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central.
The plan is that no one will be allowed to enter or exit the station without a ticket. This will help curb illegal movement at stations and prevent revenue loss for the Railways. From a security perspective, this is also being considered a positive step.
In the North Central Railway’s Prayagraj Division, orders have already been issued to provide MUTS to TTEs on duty. Those TTEs who were trained to operate it during the Mahakumbh will be the first to receive the devices, so that they can start working immediately.

Implementation will begin this month at Prayagraj Junction by handing over MUTS to TTEs. MUTS is a mobile-like device with a small inbuilt printer. Just like passengers buy tickets at counters or ATVM machines by providing the destination distance, TTEs will be able to issue tickets on the spot just as easily.
This will also serve as a convenience, as passengers can buy tickets directly from the TTE without having to go to a ticket counter or ATVM. In the first phase, 200 MUTS devices will be provided to TTEs.
According to the Senior DCM of the Prayagraj Division, there are already enough devices available. These will be handed over to TTEs to start the service this month. If needed, more devices will be purchased. This step is expected to further improve passenger facilities.
