PAN Card 2.0 has been around for a while, but have you upgraded your old card yet? The main goal behind launching PAN Card 2.0 was to improve the taxpayer experience with faster services and better efficiency. It is also far more secure compared to the older version. Experts say that the old PAN card could be misused to take fake loans or even get credit cards in someone else’s name. But such frauds are not possible with PAN Card 2.0.
Why It’s Better
The government introduced the new version of the PAN card last year. While upgrading is not mandatory, it’s highly recommended—especially since it costs only ₹50 and offers strong protection against fraud. The upgraded card includes advanced security features that prevent misuse of your PAN details. It also simplifies access to services and acts as a single source of integrated information across systems.
