How To Change Your Name in Aadhaar Card and PAN Card Online?

Aadhaar Card is a prime document for a citizen of India as it is required in all kinds of work whether to file an ITR or to acquire a new mobile SIM. It captures your biometric details and serves as proof of identity. That’s why it is really crucial to keep your Aadhaar Card up-to-date so that a person doesn’t have to face any problems in the future.




Sometimes an individual has different names or a spelling mistake both on Aadhaar Card and PAN Card because of which he has to face some difficulties regarding their official work and a lot of time is wasted in getting them done. So, it is better to be aware of the fact that now change your name on Aadhaar Card and PAN card online rather than wasting time in visiting enrollment centers. That’s why we have prepared a number of steps in a simplified manner which will make it easy for you to understand and make appropriate amendments in your identification.

Steps to change your name on Aadhaar Card:

Step 1: Visit the uidai.gov.in website
Step 2: Scroll down and select “Update Demographic Data Online”
Step 3: A new tab will open. Select “Proceed to Update Aadhaar”
Step 4: Enter your necessary Aadhaar Card details which require your 12-digit UID number. After entering all the details select Login.
Step 5: Select “Update Demographic Data”, followed by “Name”. Remember you only have 3 attempts to change your name, so try to make it correct the first time.
Step 6: Enter your correct name and submit a document to update your name. The document can be your Passport, PAN Card, Ration Card, Voter ID Card, etc.
Step 7: Your document should be in JPEG, PNG format, and should not be more than 2MB.
Step 8: Select the “Make Payment” option. The fee would be Rs. 50/- either can be paid through Credit/Debit card or through net banking.




You will receive an ‘Acknowledgement Slip’ and with the help of URN (Update Request Number), you will be able to track the status of your name. Steps to change your name on PAN Card:

How To Change Your Name in Aadhaar Card and PAN Card Online?

Step 1: Visit the NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) website.
Step 2: Select option ‘Correction in Existing PAN
Step 3: Choose your category type
Step 4: Enter your correct name in the name box
Step 5: Make sure to attach your document with the correct name. The document can be your Passport, Voter ID card, etc.
Step 6: Your document should be in JPEG, PNG format, and should not be more than 2MB.
Step 7: Click on “Submit” after entering the necessary details




Step 8: Select the “Make Payment” option. The fee can be paid either through Credit/Debit card or through net banking.

Step 9: The amount of the fee cannot be disclosed as it varies from time to time
