Superboys of Malegaon Review: A Heartfelt Tribute to the Spirit of Filmmaking

Category-

Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon is a soul-stirring and inspiring tale that celebrates the passion and resilience of small-town dreamers. Based on a true story and inspired by the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, the film brings to life the struggles and triumphs of Nasir Shaikh and his friends as they chase their dream of making a film in a place where Bollywood rules and resources are scarce.

Set in 1994 Malegaon, the film follows Nasir, played brilliantly by Adarsh Gourav, a movie lover who screens English classics, only to realize that his town prefers mass-entertainers. After his theatre is shut down for piracy, he refuses to give up on cinema. Instead, he decides to make his own film, Malegaon ka Sholay. With the help of his quirky yet dedicated friends, played by Shashank Arora, Vineet Singh, and Anuj Singh Duhan, they embark on an unbelievable journey of low-budget filmmaking, filled with obstacles, creativity, and laughter.

Produced by Zoya and Farhan Akhtar, the film is not just about making movies—it’s about believing in yourself, no matter the odds. The final moments, where we see glimpses of the real-life characters, make it even more special.

If you love films about filmmaking, underdog stories, and heartfelt performances, Superboys of Malegaon is an absolute must-watch. It’s a tribute to those who create magic with nothing but passion and determination.
