Slough House isn’t shutting its doors any time soon. Slow Horses, the spy thriller that turned a team of MI5’s biggest screw-ups into television’s most unlikely heroes, has just been given the green light for not one but two more seasons.
Since its debut in 2022, the show has quietly become one of Apple TV’s biggest hits. Based on Mick Herron’s novels, it follows a group of disgraced agents banished to a run-down office block called Slough House, all under the watchful (and often foul-mouthed) eye of Jackson Lamb, played brilliantly by Gary Oldman.
The cast around him is stacked too, with Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Chung and Aimee Ffion Edwards all playing key roles in the Slough House world.
Season 6 landed on September 16, and if you’re already curious whether it lives up to the earlier seasons, our full review of Slow Horses Season 6 digs into that in detail. The season’s finale is set to arrive on October 21, 2026, which means there’s still plenty of espionage, betrayal, and dry humour left to get through before the year wraps up.
So what happens after that?
Good news for fans who don’t want this story to end. Apple actually confirmed season 7 back in July last year, well before season 6 even premiered. That next chapter will be based on Bad Actors, the eighth book in Herron’s Slough House series, so there’s no shortage of source material to pull from.
Jay Hunt, Apple TV’s creative director for Europe, spoke about the renewal at the time and didn’t hold back on the praise.
She said the show has won fans across the globe thanks to its mix of self-deprecating British humour and fast-paced action, and added that she was thrilled audiences would get another season of Oldman’s performance as Lamb, paired with the team’s endearingly clumsy approach to spycraft.
And just when you thought that was enough to celebrate, Apple went one step further. On September 15, a day before season 6 even dropped, the streamer confirmed Slow Horses would return for an eighth season as well. That’s a serious vote of confidence in a show that could easily have run its course by now but somehow keeps finding new energy.
When can we expect season 7?
Apple hasn’t announced an official release date yet, and that’s fairly normal this early on. But if you look at the show’s track record, a new season has premiered every single year since it first launched in 2022. Going by that pattern, it’s a safe bet that season 7 will land sometime in 2027, most likely around the same September window the show has settled into.
For now, though, there’s still season 6 to enjoy, with a handful of episodes left before that October finale. Slough House’s most hopeless agents clearly aren’t going anywhere, and honestly, most fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
