With its emotional and powerful storytelling, the film has managed to win the hearts of audiences. In just 17 days since its release, Sitaare Zameen Par has delivered an impressive performance at the box office.
Aamir Khan Refuses OTT Release – But the Digital Rights Race is On
Although Aamir Khan has already stated that he won’t release the film on OTT, the race for Sitaare Zameen Par‘s digital rights is still heating up. Many platforms are reportedly in the running, hoping to secure the streaming rights if Aamir changes his decision.
Where Could the Film Stream Online?
Before the film’s release, Aamir Khan made it very clear in several media interviews that he had no plans to release Sitaare Zameen Par on any OTT platform for at least six months. He also confirmed that he had received offers from multiple platforms but declined them all.
Aamir Khan is known to be a strong supporter of theatrical releases and believes that the true essence of cinema can only be experienced in theatres. Therefore, as of now, there are no immediate plans to release the film digitally.

However, speculations are rife that streaming giants like JioCinema (Jio Hotstar) and Netflix could be contenders in acquiring the rights in the future. One of the main reasons is that Taare Zameen Par—the prequel to Sitaare Zameen Par—is available on both platforms. So, there is a possibility that the sequel might also stream on one of them eventually. That said, there is no official confirmation on this yet.
Box Office Success of Sitaare Zameen Par
Commercially, Sitaare Zameen Par has turned out to be a massive success. Within just 17 days of its release, the film has earned close to ₹150 crore at the Indian box office. Globally, it has crossed ₹225 crore, making it one of the biggest hits for Aamir Khan in recent years.
