It is also considered one of the major Tantric temples in the world. Kamakhya Temple is about 16 kilometers from Guwahati, and it is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Every year millions of devotees come here to worship Mother Kamakhya. Kamakhya Temple is considered important for Tantric practices, and various pujas, yagnas, and tantric rituals are performed here. The main gopura and air-conditioned shikhara of the temple are made of marble, and have an important place in architecture.
