Onmyoji Anime Season 2 is expected to be released in August 2025 on Netflix. There is still a lot of story left to be told and Netflix is expected to bring a second season to do so. However, nothing is confirmed yet.
Onmyoji Anime Season 2 Plot
Set in the Heian era, our series follows Abe no Masahiro, the protagonist and grandson of the renowned onmyōji, Abe no Seimei. Despite being the heir to Seimei’s teachings, Masahiro grapples with the loss of his sixth sense, rendering him unable to perceive spirits. This deficiency becomes a constant reminder of the looming shadow cast by his grandfather’s illustrious reputation.
Masahiro’s life takes a transformative turn when he encounters a fox-like being, Mokkun, who unveils his latent powers during a fierce battle against a demon. Unveiling his true identity as Tōda, also known as Guren, Mokkun is one of the twelve shikigami, the Shinshō, sworn to serve Seimei. Now, Guren aids Masahiro in surpassing his grandfather’s legacy.

However, Masahiro’s journey to eclipse Seimei’s greatness proves to be a daunting challenge. Amidst these trials, he contends with rival onmyōji orchestrating plots to dismantle Japan and strives to uphold his promise of safeguarding Princess Akiko of the Fujiwara clan.
