T-Series officially announced Animal on December 31, 2020, with an announcement video featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Parineeti Chopra as cast members and Sandeep Reddy Vanga as director.
Tripti Dimri was reported to play a role in the film a few days after it was announced. Rashmika Mandanna was reported to have replaced Chopra in March 2022 due to scheduling conflicts with her film Chamkila.

In April 2022, principal photography began in Manali. The second schedule took place in Mumbai in May 2022, with filming taking place at Pataudi Palace in July 2022. The following sessions were held in Delhi and Punjab. The shoot was completed in mid-March. Beginning in April, the film returned to England and Scotland for a 15-20-day run.
