The Reacher universe is about to get bigger. Neagley, the franchise’s first-ever spinoff, is set to premiere on September 16, putting Jack Reacher’s most trusted ally, Frances Neagley, front and centre for the first time. And naturally, with Reacher already a proven hit for Prime Video, people are wondering whether this new series has the legs for a second season too.
What’s Neagley About
Maria Sten reprises her role as Frances Neagley, a tough, no-nonsense private investigator based in Chicago and a former military colleague of Jack Reacher’s from the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. Neagley’s solo case kicks off when she learns that an old friend from her past has died in what looks like a suspicious accident.
That death pulls her into an investigation that ends up forcing her to confront parts of her own history she’d clearly rather have left alone.

How Neagley Connects to Reacher
For anyone who’s followed the main series, Neagley isn’t just some side character getting her own show for the sake of it. She’s Reacher’s closest friend and most trusted confidante, someone he’s described as having trusted with his life on countless occasions without ever being let down.
Reacher personally handpicked her for the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit, where she served as Master Sergeant, notably the only enlisted soldier he chose for the unit himself. Like Reacher, she’s sharp tactically and more than capable of holding her own physically.
One detail worth mentioning, and something the main Reacher series already established, is that Neagley deals with haphephobia, a genuine fear of physical touch. Reacher has always respected that boundary completely, which says a lot about the depth of trust between the two characters, even without physical closeness playing any part in it.
Who Else Is in the Cast
Alongside Maria Sten, Neagley features Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, a cop trying to find redemption after a shady past of his own. Jasper Jones plays Keno, a street-smart teenager who ends up helping Neagley with her case, while Adeline Rudolph plays Renee Birdwhistle, a polished coworker who initially looks down on Neagley’s methods but turns out to have her own reasons for lending a hand.
Behind the scenes, the show was created and co-showrun by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, with Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios producing. The executive producer list also includes Santora, Wootton, Lee Child, Don Granger, Sam Hill, Adam Higgs and Lisa Kussner.
So, Is a Season 2 Happening?
As of September 2026, Amazon Prime Video has not officially renewed Neagley for a second season. That’s not particularly surprising though, since the entire eight-episode first season is only premiering on September 16, the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale. Renewal decisions almost always come after a show has had time to actually perform, so there’s simply no data yet for Amazon to base that call on.
Given how big the Reacher franchise already is for Prime Video, and how much groundwork this first season seems to be laying for Neagley as a standalone character, there’s a reasonable case to be made for more seasons down the line. But for now, all anyone can really do is wait and watch how audiences respond once the show actually drops.
