The Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-door SUV has been officially unveiled by Mahindra, making it one of the most awaited car launches of 2024. This new model continues the Thar’s story four years after the launch of the new-generation Thar 3-door SUV on August 15, 2020. The Thar Roxx is designed to attract customers with its rugged look, greater practicality, and an extensive list of features compared to the 3-door model. The base petrol variant is priced at Rs. 12.99 lakh, while the base diesel variant is priced at Rs. 13.99 lakh.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Design
Mahindra has made notable design changes. The rear quarter glass is now triangular to accommodate a thicker B-pillar. While this may look less appealing on the hard-top version, it could give the Thar Roxx a more attractive profile when it goes topless. The Thar Roxx features a slanted roof, which has received mixed reactions online. The new alloy wheels are different from the three-door model, and the circular rear wheel arches have been replaced with squarer ones.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Engine Options
The Thar Roxx is set for an official launch soon. According to Autocar India, the SUV will offer two engine options: a 2.0L turbo-petrol and a 2.2L turbo-diesel. The petrol engine will be available in 160 hp and 170 hp versions, while the diesel engine will come in 132 hp and 171 hp versions. Two transmission options will be offered: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Off-Road Equipment
The 5-door Thar will feature an upgraded suspension system compared to the 3-door model, including Scorpio-N-derived FSD shock absorbers and a penta-link rear suspension. It will also have an electronic brake-locking differential at the front and a mechanically locking rear differential. Additionally, it will include a low-ratio transfer case with a lever, off-road crawl control, and intelli-turn assist. The breakover angle is 23.6 degrees, the approach angle is 41.3 degrees, the departure angle is 36.1 degrees, and it will have a water-wading depth of 650 mm.
