How to Port Your Mobile Number from BSNL to Airtel, Jio, or Vi

Do you want to change your mobile network from BSNL to Airtel, Jio, or Vi? You can do this easily without changing your mobile number. This process is called Mobile Number Portability (MNP). Here is a simple step-by-step guide to help you:

Step 1: Send a Port Request

    1. Open the messaging app on your phone.
    2. Type PORT followed by a space and your 10-digit mobile number. For example: PORT 9876543210.
    3. Send this message to 1900.
    4. You will receive a Unique Porting Code (UPC) through SMS. This code is valid for 4 days in most areas.

Step 2: Visit the New Operator’s Store

    1. Go to the nearest store of Airtel, Jio, or Vi.
    2. Take these documents with you:
      • A copy of your Aadhaar card, voter ID, or any government-approved ID.
      • A passport-size photo.
    3. Share your Unique Porting Code (UPC) with the store staff.

Step 3: Fill the Porting Form

    1. Fill out the Customer Application Form (CAF) given by the new operator.
    2. Choose the mobile plan that suits you.

Step 4: Get a New SIM Card

    1. The new operator will give you a new SIM card.
    2. Your BSNL connection will stop working within 3-5 days.
    3. Insert the new SIM card into your phone once your old SIM stops working.

    Important Things to Know

    • Your BSNL bill should be paid in full if it’s a postpaid number.
    • You cannot port your number if it has been active for less than 90 days.
    • Keep your phone turned on to receive porting updates.

    Conclusion

Porting your BSNL number to Airtel, Jio, or Vi is very simple. Just follow these steps and enjoy better network services. If you face any issues, contact the new operator’s customer care for help.
