Fed up with your busy schedule that worsens your mood everyday? Are you not giving yourself enough time to just relax and feel happy at times? We need to feel motivated in life, hence, why these 10 small tips will help in staying happy and at peace everyday.

    Smile More

Try to smile when you are tense or stressed out. Smiling releases a hormone called Dopamine, which is known as the happy hormone. You may have realised that we only smile when we are happy. But when we are sad, smiling helps us lessen the gloomy feeling that hangs over our heads. Smiling comes naturally, as you start practicing it in front of the mirror.

    Sleep More

You can’t function without proper sleep. It keeps you energetic and in a good mood all day. You need to get more than 7 hours of sleep everyday. Light sleep drains you out and doesn’t give you the energy that you need for your daily activities. In order to sleep better, there are many apps that help you organise your sleep schedule.

    Compliment others

Being grateful is key to leading a happy life. Learn to appreciate everything that comes your way in life. Be grateful for the people that are in your life as well. Also, learn to compliment others as it brightens their mood as well. Research says that giving out compliments is considered as an act of kindness.

    Breathe

When was the last time you took a deep breath? Sometimes, it’s just essential to let go of the stress you hold in all day long, and simply take a deep breath and exhale all of it out. Breathing helps you relax and be calm everyday.

    Invite People over

Stay connected to your family members and friends by inviting them over to your house for movie nights or a barbecue or simply to spend some time with your loved ones. Being in the presence of the people you love will affect you positively and helps you attain a similar outlook on life. It is bound to make you happy, but at the same time, it will bring you and your friends and family closer in these times where we lead hectic lives.

    Acknowledge Sad Moments

It is vital for a person to mature by acknowledging the sad and happy moments in life. We experience sad and happy moments in life in equal abundance. When we acknowledge these moments, we start to realise that everyone may experience different forms of sadness at some point in their lives.

    Keep a Diary

Nothing is better than keeping a record of how you feel. Pen down your daily thoughts and experiences at the end of the day, and make it a regular habit. Journaling or diary keeping is recommended by most therapists in order to find peace in life. Maintaining diaries is a good activity, as we can assess our maturation into better beings.

    Eat Properly

How could you stay happy when you don’t even eat right? The right kind of diet is essential as it helps in keeping our systems functioning smoothly. So when you are healthy from the inside, it reflects on the outside as you glow and are always in a better mood. Lean meats, multigrains, dairy products, eggs, veggies and fruits etc. should be included in your diet. Try to avoid highly-processed food and junk that makes you dull and agitated.

    Exercise daily

Nothing is better than exercising your dull and stressed self. Exercising helps in releasing active hormones which help in keeping you happy the rest of the day. Exercise reduces stress levels and the risk of encountering diseases as well. Exercising keeps you fit, and will give a boost to your self-esteem as well.

    Call someone

In these isolated times, it’s best to stay connected by just calling your friends randomly, through voice or video calls. Hearing or seeing your friend smile or laugh will automatically reflect on you, and is bound to make you happy. So call the ones you love or miss, and brighten their mood along with yours.
