Prime Video revealed that the original film “Dry Day,” a social satire directed by Saurabh Shukla and produced by Emmay Entertainment, is set to premiere on December 22. The movie features Jitendra Kumar, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Annu Kapoor.

As per the press release, “Dry Day” is a comedy-drama set in the heartland of the country, following Gannu (Kumar), a small-time goon, on a journey against the system. Amidst his emotional quest to win the trust and love of his loved ones, Gannu grapples not only with external challenges but also contends with his personal insecurities and the issue of alcoholism, as outlined in the synopsis.

   

Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals at Prime Video, emphasized the platform’s dedication to presenting culturally rooted stories like “Dry Day” to diverse audiences in India and beyond. Describing the film as a coming-of-age tale set in a small Indian town, Purohit highlighted its socially relevant and thought-provoking narrative, intricately woven through a compelling storyline. In a statement, she expressed that the film, with its rich tapestry of flavors and quirky nuances, encapsulates a unique blend that resonates with a wide audience.

Nikkhil Advani, a producer on “Dry Day,” sees the film as the commencement of an exciting journey in the realm of Hindi original movies for their banner with Prime Video.

The movie will be available on Prime Video in India and across 240 countries and territories, featuring Hindi audio and dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
