If you have been looking for a fun Malayalam show that you can settle into for a long time, JioHotstar might have just the thing. Kappi Squad, a new comedy drama web series, is set to premiere on October 15, 2026. The makers shared the date on social media along with a fresh poster, and the buzz has been building ever since.
What makes this show stand out is its size. Kappi Squad is being described as a long-running series with 100 episodes. That is a lot of content for a Malayalam web show, and it tells you the makers are planning for something big. It will also stream in dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, so viewers across India can enjoy it in their own language.
What is the show about?
The makers have kept the details light so far, but the idea is simple and relatable. The series follows a group of young friends and the funny, messy, and emotional moments that come with their lives. It blends comedy with heart and focuses on the everyday experiences that shape friendships and youth.
JioHotstar is positioning it as a show for both young viewers and families, so you can expect humour and warmth instead of anything too heavy.
Who is in the cast?
The series is headlined by Rinosh George, who many viewers know from Bigg Boss Malayalam. He is joined by Anagha Ajith, known for her work in Prakambanam, and Diya Deepan.
The cast also includes popular social media creators Joel Joseph and Abhirami Dayanandan, along with filmmaker Rahul Riji Nair.
It is a young and energetic mix of faces, which suits the theme of the show perfectly.
Who is behind the series?
Kappi Squad is created by actor and filmmaker Srikanth Mohan, who earlier directed the SonyLIV web series Jai Mahendran, starring Saiju Kurup. Belraj Kalarickal is directing this one, and the writing team includes Adithya Thejas and Subin George.
The show is produced by Rahul Riji Nair under his banner, First Print Studios, in association with JioHotstar. Rahul is best known as the director of acclaimed films like Ottamuri Velicham and Kalla Nottam, and he has produced several films and streaming projects as well.
On the technical side, the cinematography is by Rakesh Dharan and Jayakrishnan Vijayan. Appu Bhattathiri is the editor, and Sidhartha Pradeep has composed the music. The series was launched with a traditional pooja ceremony back in June, so the team has been working on it for a few months now.
Plenty to watch this week
October is turning out to be a busy month for streaming fans in Malayalam. Just a day after Kappi Squad arrives, Urvashi’s psychological thriller comes to ZEE5. If you like your stories a bit darker, you can read our piece on the Aasha OTT release date, which covers the plot, cast, and where to watch.
And if you are in the mood for something different from Netflix, there is a lot of interest around The Storm too. It is a tense movie, and our release date article explains everything you need to know before you press play.
Why Kappi Squad could be worth your time
Shows with this many episodes are rare in Malayalam, and that gives Kappi Squad a real chance to build a loyal audience. Light comedies about friendship tend to work well for this kind of format, because viewers can come back to the same characters again and again.
With a young cast, an experienced producer, and a major platform backing it, the series has a good setup. Whether it can keep the fun going across 100 episodes is the real question, and we will find out soon enough.
Kappi Squad streams exclusively on JioHotstar from October 15, 2026.
