If you skipped Steven Spielberg’s latest sci-fi film in theatres, or you did not want to pay the rental price, here is your chance. Disclosure Day arrives on JioHotstar in India on October 12, 2026, nearly four months after it opened in cinemas. It streams on the Peacock Hub section of the platform, in English and in a Hindi dub.
When and Where to Watch
The film hit theatres on June 12, 2026. Since July 21, it has been available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and ZEE5. The JioHotstar release is different because it adds the film to the platform’s regular streaming library, so subscribers can watch it without paying extra. In the US, the film reached Peacock on October 9.
JioHotstar announced the date with a mysterious line: the world has been living with a secret it was never supposed to know, and someone has decided it is time the truth came out.
What Is the Story About?
The film asks one big question. What would happen if proof of alien life was finally made public?
Emily Blunt plays Margaret Fairchild, a television weather reporter. Josh O’Connor plays Dr. Daniel Kellner, a cybersecurity expert. Both get pulled into a secret government operation that covers up the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth.
As they dig deeper, they find evidence that could change how humans see their place in the universe. The story also asks why this secret was kept hidden for so long, and what could happen if people found out.
The Cast
| Actor | Character |
|---|---|
| Emily Blunt | Margaret Fairchild |
| Josh O’Connor | Dr. Daniel Kellner |
| Colin Firth | Noah Scanlon |
| Eve Hewson | Jane Blankenship |
| Colman Domingo | Hugo Wakefield |
The supporting cast includes Wyatt Russell, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Elizabeth Marvel, Hettienne Park, Tommy Martinez, Gabby Beans, Jeremy Shamos, and Brandon Wilson.
Spielberg and Koepp Team Up Again
Spielberg directed and produced the film from a script by David Koepp, based on a story by Spielberg. The pair have worked together before on Jurassic Park, The Lost World, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It also brings Spielberg back to science fiction after Ready Player One in 2018. Kristie Macosko Krieger produced alongside him under Amblin Entertainment.
How Did It Do?
Reviews were mixed to positive. Most critics agreed it does not reach the level of Spielberg’s best sci-fi work, such as E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Minority Report, but they still found it a good film. At the box office, it earned around $240 million worldwide.
Should You Watch It?
If you enjoy mystery-driven science fiction that cares more about people than spaceships, this is worth your evening. Reviews suggest the film works best as a human story about secrets and trust, with aliens as the backdrop. Go in expecting a solid watch rather than an all-time classic.
There is plenty more to enjoy on screens this month. If you love a good finale, this story of how a Sonipat rapper won Hustle 5 is a fun read. If you are in the mood for romance, the Tum Mere Ho trailer shows a quiet love story turning into an emotional storm. And if you want big action, the Ranabaali trailer review asks whether Vijay Deverakonda’s fight against the British goes a little too far.
Disclosure Day streams on JioHotstar from October 12, 2026.
