Luv Ranjan built his name on the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise, a series that not only gave us three hit films but also introduced the industry to Kartik Aaryan. Now, years later, he is back with something new, and this time he is betting on six completely fresh faces to carry the story forward. The film is called Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, and its trailer just landed, bringing with it a mix of nostalgia and curiosity.
The cast includes Sparsh Walia, Alisha Chopra, Kunal Vaid, Sakshi Vaidya, Tushar Chhibber, and Sargun Kaur Luthra, none of whom audiences have seen on screen before. That alone makes this an interesting watch, since launching new talent has almost become a signature move for Luv Ranjan at this point. But despite the unfamiliar faces, there is something about the trailer that feels oddly familiar too.
The title itself raised a lot of questions when it was first announced. How exactly does first love happen twice? The trailer answers that pretty clearly. The story follows three friends who head to their school reunion, only to run into their old school crushes there.
What starts off as a nostalgic catch-up slowly spirals into something far more complicated, with friendships getting tested and love turning messier than anyone expected.
At its core, the film seems to be exploring modern relationships and how friendships often become the glue that holds people together when love gets complicated.
The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the soundtrack, including a title track sung by Darshan Raval, which already sounds like the kind of song that will be stuck in your head for weeks. Visually, the trailer looks polished too, with soft lighting and pretty frames throughout, almost like every scene was styled to look like a painting, even during the more emotional moments.
For something a little more intense, the Reporting Live trailer shows Parineeti Chopra risking everything in the name of truth. And if you are in the mood for something quirkier, the Nayyi Navelli trailer gives Yami Gautam a surprising supernatural twist just in time for Dussehra.
In many ways, this does feel like an unofficial continuation of the Punchnama universe, just with a noticeably different tone. The friend group this time includes a woman, and the conversations around love and relationships feel more balanced and far less one-sided compared to the earlier films.
It is a small but noticeable shift. There is also a fun detail fans have already picked up on: Sparsh Walia bears a strong resemblance to Kartik Aaryan, right down to a rant-heavy moment toward the end of the trailer that feels straight out of the Punchnama playbook.
If fresh Bollywood trailers are keeping you busy this festive season, there is a lot more to catch up on. The trailer for Udta Teer recently dropped and brings its own dose of spy comedy chaos to the mix.
Presented by Luv Films and directed by Anuj Saini, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar is produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The film hits theatres on October 23, 2026, and based on the trailer, it looks set to bring back that familiar Punchnama magic with a refreshingly new cast.
