Parul Gulati has managed to do something fairly rare in the entertainment industry. She built a solid acting career across television, Punjabi cinema, and web series, while simultaneously running a successful business of her own. That mix of creative and entrepreneurial energy has now brought her to The Traitors Season 2, adding reality television to an already varied résumé.
Early Life and Education
Parul was born on August 6, 1991, in Rohtak, Haryana, into a middle-class family. She belongs to the Arora community and comes from a Hindu household. Interestingly, her entry into modelling happened almost by accident. While she was still in the 12th standard, an advertising agency spotted her through photos on social media and reached out to her, which is how her career in front of the camera began.
She later went on to train formally in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, RADA, in London, one of the most respected drama schools in the world. She is also trained in multiple dance forms including jazz, hip hop, and ballet, and has studied Kalaripayattu, a traditional Indian martial art, which speaks to just how seriously she has approached her craft over the years.
She has a brother named Pavail Gulati, who is also an actor in his own right.
Career Beginnings
Parul made her acting debut in 2010 with the TV serial Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam, where she played Bittan, the younger sister of a character portrayed by Bollywood actress Yami Gautam. This early television role helped establish her presence in the industry.
She then moved into Punjabi cinema, making her debut with Burraahh in 2012, where she played a character named Rose. After this film, she took a year off to complete her training at RADA and also did some theatre work in Mumbai, showing a clear intent to sharpen her craft rather than rush her career.
She returned to Punjabi films with Romeo Ranjha in 2014, and in 2016 she starred in Zorawar opposite singer and actor Yo Yo Honey Singh, playing a character named Jasleen.
Television and Web Series Work
Parul’s television career gained real momentum with P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke in 2017, a Star Plus series directed by Nikkhil Advani. She played Afreen, a Pakistani Urdu speaking woman married to a prisoner of war, a role that earned her considerable praise for how convincingly she portrayed the character.
In 2018, she took on the role of Jannat Mirza in the web series Haq Se, a modern adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women, reimagined in the context of Kashmir. The same year, she appeared in the Netflix series Selection Day, based on Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name, and also featured in Girls Hostel, a popular web series produced by The Viral Fever.
Her web series work continued to grow with projects like Hey Prabhu!, The Raikar Case, Illegal – Justice, Out of Order, and Your Honor, showing her range across different digital platforms. In 2025, she appeared in the Hindi film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 as Jenny, alongside comedian and actor Kapil Sharma.
Building Nish Hair
While acting remained a core part of her career, Parul also built something entirely her own. She founded Nish Hair, a human hair extensions brand, and became its CEO, stepping confidently into the world of entrepreneurship alongside her acting work.
In 2023, she took her business to a national platform by appearing on Shark Tank India Season 2, pitching Nish Hair to the panel of investors. She asked for a Rs 1 crore investment in exchange for a 2 percent stake in her company. While a few sharks passed on the deal, she eventually secured her Rs 1 crore investment, a moment that brought her business considerable attention and credibility. Her entrepreneurial journey has since earned her a spot on the cover of Forbes magazine.
The Traitors Season 2
In 2026, Parul Gulati stepped into a completely new arena by joining The Traitors Season 2 as a celebrity contestant. The show, hosted by Karan Johar and streaming on Prime Video, brings together actors, entrepreneurs, comedians, and digital creators for a game built entirely around trust, strategy, and deception.
Having successfully balanced acting with running her own business for years, Parul’s entry into The Traitors felt like a natural extension of her ability to juggle multiple worlds at once. She joins a packed lineup that includes Shweta Tiwari, Krystle D’Souza, Dalip Tahil, Mallika Sherawat, and Rhea Chakraborty, bringing her own blend of sharp business instincts and screen presence to the competition.
