The India Story Trailer Breakdown - Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade Tackle Indias Pesticide Crisis

Some films entertain. Some films make you think. And occasionally, a film does both at the same time by putting a real and urgent problem at the very centre of its story. The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress looks like it’s attempting exactly that.

The official trailer dropped on July 18, and it immediately makes clear that this isn’t a film trying to be comfortable. It’s a film trying to be necessary.

Starring Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade, the multilingual social drama is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 24, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

What the The India Story Trailer Shows

The trailer opens with a tone that is immediately tense and purposeful. The central concern of the film is pesticide farming — specifically, the long-term and largely invisible damage that excessive chemical use in agriculture is doing to public health across India.

It’s a subject that affects millions of people who eat food every day without ever thinking about what went into growing it, which is precisely why the film’s title — Slow Poison in Progress — lands with the force it does.

The trailer blends courtroom drama with social commentary and personal emotional conflict, following characters who are caught in the middle of a larger crisis they didn’t create but cannot ignore.

Kajal Aggarwal’s character stands at the heart of the fight for truth, facing overwhelming pressure from forces that would prefer this story stay buried. Shreyas Talpade plays what appears to be an ordinary man drawn into an extraordinary battle — someone driven by hope and determination rather than power or privilege.

The courtroom elements suggest the film will explore the legal and institutional dimensions of the pesticide crisis — who is responsible, who is being protected, and who is being left to suffer the consequences without any accountability.

What the Cast and Director Said

Director Chettan DK has been direct about what The India Story is trying to do.

“The India Story is more than just a film — it’s a conversation we need to have,” he said. “We wanted to shine a light on an issue that silently impacts every household. We hope it inspires audiences to question, reflect, and engage with the reality around them.”

Kajal Aggarwal spoke about the personal meaning the project holds for her. “My character stands up for truth despite overwhelming odds, and that spirit is what makes this film so special. I hope the trailer connects with audiences and leaves them eager to witness this powerful story on the big screen.”

Shreyas Talpade described the emotional core of the film simply and honestly. “It’s a story of an ordinary man’s fight against an extraordinary challenge, driven by hope and determination. I believe audiences will relate to its emotions and message.”

All three of them are saying essentially the same thing in different ways — this is a film that wants to mean something, not just perform for two hours and be forgotten by the weekend.

The Subject Matter and Why It Matters

Pesticide overuse in Indian agriculture is not a new problem, but it is one that has rarely been placed at the centre of a mainstream multilingual Bollywood film.

Farmers across the country have been using chemical pesticides at volumes that often far exceed safe limits, driven by pressure to maximise yields, lack of access to alternatives, and a supply chain that doesn’t always have their long-term wellbeing in mind. The consequences reach well beyond the farms — contaminated water, food with chemical residues, and health impacts that build quietly over years before becoming undeniable.

It’s the kind of issue that sits in the background of daily life for most Indians without ever breaking through into public conversation. The India Story is trying to change that.

It’s worth noting that the film has reportedly faced some legal challenges over its agricultural claims, which suggests the subject matter is touching nerves in the right places — and that the makers are prepared to stand by their research.

    The Team Behind the Film

The India Story is directed by Chettan DK and written and produced by Sagar B. Shinde. It is presented by Zee Studios in association with MIG Production & Studios.

The technical crew includes cinematographer Nishant Bhagwat, music composer Mangesh Dhakde, editor Ashish Mhatre, lyricist Shakeel Azami, and sound designer Anmol Bhave. The film is co-produced by Swati Vinayak Saindane, Anita Jadhav, Vinayak Saindane, Kalpesh Shah, Devyani Khorate, and Prem Joshi.

The India Story Release Date and Languages

The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress releases in theatres worldwide on July 24, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

The multilingual release reflects both the national scope of the issue it addresses and the ambition to reach audiences across different regions of the country — because pesticide farming and food safety are not problems limited to any one state or language group. They are India’s problems, and the film’s title makes that point clearly.

If the trailer is anything to go by, The India Story is a film that plans to leave you thinking well after the credits roll.
