Delhi Govt Offers Rs 30000 for Rooftop Solar Panels- Know the Scheme

The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved an additional subsidy of ₹30,000 for installing 3-kilowatt rooftop solar panels. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that by adopting the ‘PM Surya Ghar Yojana’, residents can save an average of ₹4,200 on their electricity bills every month.

To make this initiative more effective, the Delhi government has launched the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme State Top-Up’. Under this scheme, the central government already provides a subsidy of ₹78,000. With Delhi’s additional ₹30,000 support, the total subsidy now stands at ₹1.08 lakh, making it the largest financial aid of its kind so far.

    Monthly savings of ₹4,200

Chief Minister Gupta said, “The new subsidy structure allows consumers to install solar panels with zero upfront cost, enabling significant savings on electricity bills every month. This is a revolutionary step towards making Delhi clean and green.”

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa added that the government will also collaborate with banks to provide easy loans for installing solar panels. He emphasized that people won’t need to spend out of pocket and can save ₹4,200 monthly.

    ₹50 crore budget allocated

Minister Sirsa also mentioned that the Cabinet approved the subsidy at a rate of ₹10,000 per kilowatt—₹30,000 for 3 kilowatts. According to the official statement, a budget of ₹50 crore has been allocated for the scheme, with a goal of installing solar systems on 2.3 lakh residential units over the next three years.

In addition, the Delhi government will work with financial institutions to offer easy loan options, allowing the remaining cost of up to ₹90,000 to be paid without any upfront payment. This means people can install solar panels without paying a lump sum amount.
