What Was the Loud Boom and Flash in Sirsa's Sky? India Shoots Down Fateh Missile from Pakistan

A powerful explosion accompanied by a bright flash was heard near the Indian border late at night. On Saturday morning, security forces in Sirsa, Haryana, recovered parts of a missile, sparking widespread attention. Videos of the incident have also surfaced on social media. In retaliation, India reportedly targeted and destroyed at least four Pakistani airbases, including one in Rawalpindi.

According to media reports, Pakistan attempted to escalate tensions by launching a long-range missile after a failed drone attack. India responded swiftly and decisively. Reports claim that Pakistan fired a Fateh missile towards India during the night, which was intercepted and destroyed mid-air by India’s advanced air defence system.

Initial sources suggest that the missile was a Fateh-1, with a range of approximately 200 km. Some other reports speculate it might have been a Fateh-2. However, the Indian Army has not officially confirmed the details yet.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani military has launched a new operation called “Bunyan al-Marsus,” meaning “A Strong Wall or Foundation.” Defense expert U.K. Devnath explained to Zee News that during wartime, governments formally declare operations by name, which indicates a new directive or objective for the armed forces. Unlike India, where such declarations come from the Defence Ministry, Pakistan’s army has independently initiated this campaign, likely aiming to mount pressure on India through various strategies.

Following the missile incident, panic has spread across Pakistani cities like Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Sirens have been blaring continuously, and Pakistan’s airspace is being closed intermittently. The atmosphere in those cities remains tense and fearful.
