NEET Exam Pattern to Change in 2025- NTA Committee Report Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the NEET 2025 exam calendar soon, with NEET UG 2025 anticipated to be held on May 4, 2025. In light of recent concerns, including exam irregularities and paper leaks, the NTA is considering a revised exam pattern based on recommendations from an expert committee.

The committee, established to review the NTA’s examination framework, has outlined several proposals to address issues that impacted competitive exams like NEET UG and UGC NET. Below are potential updates on the NEET 2025 exam pattern, syllabus, and mode of examination based on the committee’s findings.

Expected Changes in NEET 2025 – Latest Update from NTA

Reports suggest that the committee may recommend a shift from the traditional offline mode to an online or hybrid format for NEET UG 2025. While the NTA has not yet issued an official notice on this, a decision is expected soon, as the Supreme Court recently granted the expert committee a two-week extension to submit its report. This report is anticipated by early November.

Key Recommendations from the Expert Committee on NEET UG Reforms

The seven-member committee, chaired by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, has proposed several reforms, including:

    1. Online and Hybrid Exam Models: The committee suggests shifting to online exams or, if not feasible, a “hybrid” model where question papers are sent digitally, but students complete their answers on paper.
    2. Two-Stage Exam Structure: To better handle the large number of candidates, a two-stage exam system (similar to JEE) is proposed for more effective applicant assessment.
    3. CUET Subject Streamlining: The committee recommends limiting subjects in the CUET to avoid repetition of board exam content.
    4. Enhanced Staffing at NTA: Increasing full-time staff is suggested to improve exam management.
    5. Improved Data Security: Strengthening data protection measures and gaining control over exam centers is recommended to reduce dependency on external facilities.
    6. Risk Reduction for Paper Leaks: The committee advocates for digital distribution of question papers closer to exam time to minimize security risks.
    7. Attempt Limits for NEET: Limiting the number of attempts per candidate is proposed to promote thorough preparation and fairness.

Potential Changes to the NEET 2025 Exam Format

Following recent issues in NEET UG 2024, a report from Dr. K. Radhakrishnan’s committee suggested introducing hybrid and multi-stage testing for the 2025 exam to enhance security. NEET UG traditionally follows a paper-based format, lasting three hours and twenty minutes, across numerous domestic and international centers. Changes are under consideration, and the NTA will provide updates on its official website once a decision is made.

Will NEET 2025 Remove Optional Questions?

The NTA recently removed optional questions in Section B of the JEE Main 2025 exam, a return to the pre-COVID format. This change has sparked speculation that NEET 2025 may also see the removal of optional questions, though no official announcement has been made. Aspirants should follow the NTA website for official updates.

    Revised NEET 2025 Syllabus

The NTA has published a revised syllabus for NEET UG 2025, with adjustments in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry topics. Candidates are encouraged to carefully review these changes to tailor their study plans accordingly.

Possible Changes in the NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

The NTA is considering adjustments to the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern as per the committee’s recommendations. While no changes have been confirmed, the committee’s report, once finalized, may result in significant updates to the exam’s structure.

Aspirants are advised to check the NTA’s official website regularly for the latest information on the NEET 2025 exam format and other updates.
