No More RTO Hassles: Now Get Your Driving License Test Done at Private Centers!

The central government has made significant changes to the process of obtaining a driving license. Starting June 1, 2024, you can take your driving test not only at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) but also at nearby private centers or driving schools. These centers will be authorized to conduct driving tests and issue driving certificates. This change will make obtaining a driving license easier.

Currently, the process of obtaining a driving license is quite lengthy. It involves a lot of paperwork, filling out numerous forms, and visiting multiple offices. The lengthy and complex procedure has led to corruption in RTO offices, affecting road safety across the country. To address these issues, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced significant changes to the existing driving regulations in India.

Rules and Conditions for Private Centers

For two-wheeler training, the driving school must have at least 1 acre of land, and for four-wheeler training, at least 2 acres of land. The school should have proper facilities for conducting driving tests on-site. Trainers at the school must have at least a high school education and five years of driving experience.

    Reduced Paperwork

The paperwork required to obtain a license will now be reduced. Applicants will only need to provide essential documents as specified for the type of license they are applying for. The transport department will inform applicants in advance about the necessary documents.

    How to Apply Online

The application process for a driving license remains the same. Applications can be submitted both online and offline. Applicants can visit the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways – https://parivahan.gov.in/ – to submit their application online. Alternatively, they can also visit the relevant RTO to submit their application.
