    Govt Issues High-Risk Warning for iPhone Users- Hackers Targeting These Software Versions

    Govt Issues High-Risk Warning for iPhone Users- Hackers Targeting These Software Versions

    Apple iPhone, iPad, and MacBook users are once again facing a significant threat. India’s CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has issued a high-risk warning for users of these Apple devices in its security bulletin dated 20th May. According to CERT-In, several vulnerabilities have been discovered in these Apple devices. Through these vulnerabilities, remote hackers can easily hack into these devices. Cyber attacks could enable hackers to steal sensitive data from users’ devices. Additionally, hackers can bypass security on targeted Apple devices and inject remote code into the system.

    Software Versions on Target List of Hackers

    • Apple iOS and iPadOS versions before 16.7.8
    • Apple iOS and iPadOS versions before 17.5
    • Apple macOS Monterey versions before 12.7.5
    • Apple macOS Ventura versions before 13.6.7
    • Apple macOS Sonoma version 14.5
    • Apple watchOS versions before 10.5
    • Apple Safari versions before 17.5
    • Apple tvOS versions before 17.5

    Apple’s iOS 17.5 is the latest version. This means that almost all iPhone users are at risk from hackers. To protect yourself from this threat, you need to update the OS on your Apple device. To update the OS, first go to Settings and tap on General. Here, you will see the option for Software Update in About Phone. By installing the latest update available here on your phone, you can keep yourself safe from this threat.

    Additionally, you should pay attention to messages and notifications from Apple or other reliable security agencies on your phone. Important advisories related to cyber attacks are issued to users from time to time. It is also advisable not to open any unknown links, websites, or files.
