Seven years after the dramatic finale of Baahubali: The Conclusion, the world of Mahishmati continues to develop in new and intriguing ways. Baahubali: Crown of Blood, an animated series available on Disney+ Hotstar, transports us back to the kingdom’s history, presenting previously unseen stories and increasing our understanding of familiar characters.
Set before the events of the films, Baahubali: Crown of Blood serves as a prequel to the first installment of the film trilogy. The plot centers around the worst period in Mahishmati’s history, which is still ruled by the fearsome queen, Sivagami. Her two sons, Baahubali and Bhallaladeva, must band together once more to confront a new threat: the terrible warlord Raktadeva.
Raktadeva, born in the furnace of slave mines and fuelled by hatred and anguish, has created an army in which justice is served with the stroke of a sword. For the first time, the brothers come together to safeguard their land.

Baahubali: Crown of Blood may not create new ground in animation, but it shines at narrative. It digs into the relationship between Sivagami and Baahubali, illuminates Bhallaladeva’s upbringing, and examines the circumstances that caused his hatred and wrath. The series has interesting subplots, such as Kattappa’s devotion to his queen and the realm. We follow the protagonists’ travels beyond the battlefield, which adds dimension to their personalities.
Unlike a retread of the original Baahubali narrative, this animated series features new plotlines. It keeps the series alive by providing new content to fans. The language in the series, as in live-action films, may be overly dramatic and clichéd. The grandeur might sometimes be lost in its delivery. While demonstrating the protagonists’ increased power after confronting a terrifying threat, the narrative occasionally becomes tedious and loses its original excitement.
Baahubali: Crown of Blood may not have revolutionized animation, but it does successfully expand the Baahubali world.
