Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Review: Not That Perfect TVF Series

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Review: The latest TVF series is not just up to the mark. Even though the show tries too hard to hit you with nostalgia and old vibes the things just doesn’t add up for one reason or another. After the overwhelming success of Yeh Meri Family, unfortunately the second season does not live up to its hype.

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Review Rating: ⭐⭐ | 2/5

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Cast: Juhi Parmar as Neerja Awasthi, Rajesh Kumar as Sanjay Awasthi, Hetal Gada as Ritika Awasthi, Veena Mehta as Dadi and Angaad Maahloy as Rishi Awasthi.

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Director: Mandar Kurundkar

    Streaming on: Amazon MiniTV

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Story: Season 2 of Yeh Meri Family takes place in the winter of 1994. The weather is cool outside, but the Awasthi house is always on fire (figuratively speaking). Ritika and Rishi make no attempt to irritate their short-tempered, strict mother and schoolteacher, Neerja. Sanjay, a calm, laid-back father, helps to balance the heat. Sometimes all it takes to warm your heart is a hug from family.

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 Review

Yeh Meri Family Season 2 on Amazon miniTV tells the story from Ritika’s point of view. She is the Awasthi couple’s eldest adolescent daughter. Ritika and Rishi’s sibling love-hate relationship is endearing and entertaining. However, Ritika’s character appears to be written for an adult woman. I understand why the producers wanted to portray her as a mature older child. But Ritika frequently felt robbed of her childhood innocence. Perhaps I just wanted her to be a child who is still in school and does not have to think or act like an adult.

The first season was a huge success, so it’s natural for fans of the show to have high hopes for the second season. After the summers, it was the winters that allowed us to spend time with our loved ones. A school-age child’s life has never been easy, from morning laziness to the stress of exam results! The new season successfully captures these elements. However, it lacks the same effect or 90s flavor as the previous season.

The Awasthi family’s story does not feel like it belongs in the 1990s. If we take the characters and plots from the films and show them as a 2023 family, the only difference would be that telephones have been replaced by mobile phones. The constant mention of Aishwarya Rai and Kiran Bedi, two names who rose to prominence at the time, feels forced.

All in all, the bar set by TVF is too high with series like Kota Factory, Pitchers, Gullak and even Yeh Meri Family Season 1 but the second season of Yeh Meri Family is just not good enough.
