The world has a new World Test Champion—South Africa. In the first two WTC cycles, New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2023) lifted the Test mace. Now, the 2025–27 WTC cycle is all set to begin on June 17 with the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Test match.
Team India will begin its WTC 2027 journey with a tough five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 at Leeds. After reaching the final in the first two cycles, India finished third in the WTC 2025 standings. With Shubman Gill leading a young side, India will aim to go all the way this time, though the road won’t be easy.
WTC Format
Each team plays six series in a WTC cycle over two years—three at home and three away.
