This waterfall is known for its beauty and calm environment. This waterfall is located at a distance of 14.5 kilometers from Kathmandu and is situated at an altitude of 1400 meters. The waterfall is also the origin of the Bagmati River, which is the main water source of the Kathmandu Valley.

    Sundarijal is a spectacular waterfall falling from a height of 160 meters (525 feet). This waterfall is the origin of the Bagmati River, which is the main river of the Kathmandu Valley. The water of Sundarijal is considered sacred for Hindus. The area around the waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests and high mountains. A panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley can be seen from here. There are many temples near it, which make it an important religious place for Hindus.     Sundari Jal is a village 17.6 km away from Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu. It is one of the most popular places to get away from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The waterfall Ukhreni Sundarijal has rocks, a river, Bagmati River and green forests. These places are trendy for canyoning. Especially in summer. During the day people go to Sundarijal with their friends and family and spend time having fun in the water. Yet after dusk no one dares to stay even for a moment in Sundarijal.

    Every year people die by drowning in the river while swimming and by falling from the rocks of Sundarijal. According to local villagers many people died while swimming in the river, trying to get out but failed. They also say that the river drowns swimmers because the souls of dead people wander in the river. Thus, due to the higher mortality rate in the dark and night than during the day, people avoid staying there till evening, so tourists rarely stay there after evening.

    Enjoy the waterfall, its natural beauty is worth seeing. You can sit near the waterfall and enjoy nature or take a bath in the cool water below the waterfall. There are many hiking trails around Sundarijal Falls. You can hike on these paths and enjoy the surrounding natural scenery. There are many picnic spots near Sundarijal Falls. You can have a picnic here with your family and friends. There are temples, you can visit these temples.

    You can reach Sundarijal waterfall by bus, taxi or private vehicle. Buses from Kathmandu run every hour from 6 am to 5 pm. You can also walk from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. It is an easy walk that takes about 3 hours.
