Tumbadche Manjula Release Date: Cast, Plot, and All About the Marathi Horror-Comedy

Marathi cinema has been doing interesting things with folklore and supernatural storytelling in recent years, and Tumbadche Manjula looks like the next chapter in that tradition. The film is officially hitting theatres on June 5, 2026 — World Environment Day, a detail the promotional team has been leaning into with some amusement — and the buzz around it has been building steadily since the teaser dropped.

A Horror-Comedy Rooted in Marathi Folklore

The film is set in a coastal village inspired by the Konkan region, where ancient legends and supernatural happenings sit alongside everyday village life. The central mystery is built around one question the marketing campaign keeps asking — “Who is Tumbadche Manjula?” — and the makers have been deliberately withholding the answer to keep curiosity running high.

What makes the concept interesting is the balance it seems to be striking. This isn’t a straight horror film designed to frighten audiences into silence. It’s a horror-comedy that mixes genuine supernatural atmosphere with village-style humor and emotional drama. That combination is harder to pull off than it sounds, but when it works, it tends to produce the kind of film that families talk about long after they’ve left the theatre.

Strong Cast Adds Excitement to the Film

The cast is one of the more compelling reasons to pay attention to this one. Jitendra Joshi leads the film, and his ability to move between emotional intensity and natural comic timing makes him well-suited for a genre that demands both. Om Bhutkar brings depth to his role, and Sai Tamhankar’s inclusion adds considerable star power to the project.

Makarand Anaspure appears in a key supporting role that seems connected to the village’s deeper secrets, and the wider cast — including Usha Nadkarni, Priyal Naik, Yogesh Shirsat, Atharav Ruke, and Anshuman Vichare — gives the film a well-rounded ensemble feel. The mix of experienced performers and younger faces should help the film reach across different audience groups.

    Behind the Scenes Creative Team

Vividh Korgaonkar is making his feature directorial debut with this film, and based on what’s been shown in the trailers, the visual tone and atmospheric presentation are already drawing praise. The screenplay by Rushikesh Turai and Yogesh Shirsat draws heavily on rural folklore traditions, which gives the story a grounded cultural identity rather than feeling like a generic supernatural thriller.

Cinematographer Kaushal Goswami has given the film a dark but visually rich look, and the background score does meaningful work in building tension and maintaining the supernatural mood. Zee Studios backing the project explains the scale and polish visible in the production design, which reportedly includes specially constructed sets built around mysterious chambers and haunted spaces.

    Teasers and Trailer Build Curiosity

The marketing has been executed with care. The first motion poster — eerie visuals, hidden eyes, dark village imagery, a black parrot — created genuine intrigue before anyone had seen a single scene. The teaser in April established the horror-comedy tone clearly, and the full trailer released in May brought the village legends, supernatural events, and character humor together in a way that confirmed the film has a real identity.

Fans of Marathi cinema have been comparing the atmosphere to earlier folklore-inspired films from the region, though Tumbadche Manjula seems to be aiming for something more entertainment-focused and emotionally accessible than pure genre horror.

Will Tumbadche Manjula Release on OTT?

Only a theatrical release has been confirmed for June 5. No OTT date or streaming platform has been announced. Given Zee Studios’ involvement, a digital release after the theatrical run is widely expected, but fans will experience this one on the big screen first.

Why Marathi Cinema Fans Are Excited

There’s something appealing about a horror-comedy that takes its folklore seriously while still making room for humor and heart. Tumbadche Manjula seems to understand that the best supernatural stories work because of their emotional core, not just their scares. The mysterious marketing, strong cast, Konkan village setting, and the consistent atmosphere shown in promotional material have all contributed to making this one of the more anticipated Marathi releases of 2026. For anyone who enjoys this particular flavor of regional cinema, June 5 is worth marking.
