    Thamma Movie Review
    • Release Date: 21 October 2025 (Diwali)
    • Director: Aditya Sarpotdar
    • Producers: Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik
    • Genre: Romantic Comedy Horror

    ⭐ Rating: 4/5

The fifth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, “Thamma” is a bold and imaginative film that blends Indian mythology with modern storytelling. The movie takes us into the fascinating world of vampires — a theme rarely explored in Hindi cinema.

    Story

The film revolves around Alok, a historian who unexpectedly transforms into an ancient Indian vampire — a Betal. What follows is a bloody love story between two souls fighting for their love, while destiny, lineage, and nature try to tear them apart. The film also portrays a secret war between the Betals and their rebellious leader, Yakshashan.

    Cast and Characters

    Ayushmann Khurrana (Alok/Thamma)

Ayushmann delivers a stellar performance as the lead character. His role as the Sarvasrisht Betal (the Supreme Vampire) is powerful and deeply emotional. He portrays Alok’s transformation from a simple historian into a mythical being with subtle brilliance — balancing fear, love, and inner conflict.

    Rashmika Mandanna (Tadaka)

Rashmika plays Tadaka, the physically strongest character in the universe. Her performance is both fierce and mysterious. The action sequences are impressive, and her chemistry with Ayushmann is striking. Tadka adds depth and intrigue to the storyline.

    Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Yakshashan)

Nawazuddin takes on a completely new kind of role as Yakshashan, the film’s antagonist. His madness, charm, and unpredictability make the villain unforgettable. Though Yakshashan seeks world domination, Nawaz adds a human touch to his evil — making him one of the highlights of the movie.

    Paresh Rawal (Ram Bajaj Goyal)

Paresh Rawal shines in the supporting role of Ram Bajaj Goyal, bringing lighthearted humour and emotional balance to the film. His impeccable comic timing adds flavour to the narrative.

    Other Cast Members

    • Faisal Malik (‘Panchayat’ fame) in a key role
    • Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi in special dance numbers
    • Varun Dhawan appears in a cameo, reprising his role from Bhediya
    • Sathyaraj, Diana Penty, Asif Khan, Aparshakti Khurana, Vinay Pathak and others contribute significantly to the ensemble cast

    Technical Aspects

The film was shot across Delhi, Mumbai, and Ooty. The VFX work is top-notch, adding grandeur to the supernatural world. Music by Sachin-Jigar perfectly complements the tone of the film, while Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics carry emotional weight. The song “Tum Mere Na Hue”, sung by Madhubanti Bagchi, beautifully expresses the pain of unfulfilled love.

    Conclusion

“Thamma” is a daring and refreshing addition to the Maddock Universe. It’s not just a horror comedy — it’s also a heartfelt love story woven with mystical and mythological threads. Each actor delivers an excellent performance, with Nawazuddin standing out in a completely new avatar.

This Diwali, “Thamma” is a must-watch for families — it offers thrills, mystery, laughter, and an emotional core that stays with you.

Verdict: Definitely worth watching, especially if you’re a fan of Stree and Bhediya.
