This year, Ram Navami is extra special because Lord Ram is in the new temple. It’s on April 17, 2024, during the Ram Navami celebrations that Suryadev will put tilak on Ramlala’s forehead for about 4 minutes. This moment is going to be very emotional and important for devotees, showing that Lord Ram is there with his blessings.
In a significant trial at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the event of Surya Abhishek, in which the Sun applies tilak to Ram Lalla’s forehead, was successfully performed.
This trial, which involved Surya applying tilak through a mirror at precisely 12:00 noon and was overseen by scientists, occurred after Prime Minister Narendra Modi consecrated Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024. Devotees from across the country have been gathering at the temple site on a daily basis, marking the end of nearly a 500-year wait for the grand temple at Lord Ram’s birthplace.

A special event is planned for this year’s Ram Navami at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Before the tilak ceremony, the sun’s rays will be redirected by three mirrors and channeled through a brass pipe onto Ramlala’s head via a lens.
This event is significant because it is the first celebration following Ramlala’s idol consecration in Ayodhya. Prasar Bharati intends to broadcast the Surya Tilak live, and LED screens will be set up in over a hundred locations throughout Ayodhya so that people can witness the event.
