Srikanth Movie Review: A Rajkummar Rao Special in a Story that Inspires

    4.5

Rajkummar Rao shines in the inspiring biopic Srikanth, directed by Tushar Hiranandani. The film depicts the remarkable true story of Srikanth Bolla, a visually impaired Indian industrialist and the founder of Bollant Industries.

Srikanth tells the story of Srikanth Bolla, who was born blind in 1992 in Seetharamapuram village, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Despite facing enormous challenges, Srikanth’s determination and passion led him to establish Bollant Industries—an enterprise that employs unskilled and differently-abled people to produce eco-friendly products. The film beautifully depicts his journey from being labeled “garbage” as a child to becoming a successful business owner.

Rajkummar Rao easily transitions into the role of Srikanth Bolla. His depiction is nothing short of outstanding, portraying every element of the character with realism and depth. Rao captures Srikanth’s unwavering dedication and passion, from small movements that reflect his body language to mastery of the nuanced dialect. The boundary between reality and fiction blurs as he brings Srikanth’s remarkable story to life.

While Rajkummar Rao shines, the supporting cast should also be recognized. Jyothika as Devika’s teacher, Alaya F as Swathi, and Sharad Kelkar as Ravi all contribute to the story. However, there are times when these people become lost in the greater tale. A little more emphasis on their arcs could have improved the film further.

Director Tushar Hiranandani portrays Srikanth’s story with care, eschewing the traditional hero-worship style found in many biopics. The script, written by Jagdeep Siddhu and Sumit Purohit, depicts Srikanth in shades of grey, making him a realistic, imperfect, yet inspirational character. The film maintains a mix between emotionally charged sequences, songs, and drama, keeping the audience engaged throughout.

Srikanth is a wonderful tribute to the human spirit and determination. It serves as a reminder that what we consider to be our weaknesses can be another person’s strength. Rajkummar Rao’s outstanding performance and the engaging narrative make this picture a must-see. Prepare to be impressed and moved by Srikanth’s incredible journey on the big screen.
