The makers have confirmed that the film will not be available on any OTT platform on January 9. They clarified that such an early release is not possible.
However, the filmmakers have also shared some good news for fans, revealing when the movie might actually release on OTT. Despite this announcement, many fans who had planned to watch the movie online on January 9 are disappointed.
Blockbuster Success in Theatres
Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ was released on December 5. It has been 15 days since its release, and the film continues to dominate the box office. Remarkably, the movie recovered its budget within just three days of release and has become one of the biggest blockbusters ever. Earlier, there were reports that the Allu Arjun starrer would be released on OTT on January 9, 2025. However, the makers have now clarified that this is not true.
No OTT Release on January 9
Recently, the production house Mythri Movie Makers posted an update on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle. They addressed the rumors about the OTT release and confirmed that ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ will not stream on January 9. Their post stated,
“Rumors about ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ OTT release are circulating. Enjoy the biggest movie of this holiday season #Pushpa2 only in theatres. It will not be available on any OTT platform before 56 days! Experience this #WildFirePushpa only in cinemas.”

Sequel Creates a Buzz
Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. The sequel features Allu Arjun reprising his iconic role as ‘Pushparaj’, Rashmika Mandanna as ‘Srivalli’, and Fahadh Faasil as ‘SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat’.
Record-Breaking Earnings
The movie has broken several records and emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi-language film. Within just two weeks, it earned ₹600 crore at the box office. According to Mythri Movie Makers, the Allu Arjun starrer has crossed ₹1,500 crore worldwide, with a total collection of ₹1,508 crore so far.
Film Also in Headlines for Controversy
Apart from its box office success, the film also made headlines due to a tragic incident during its premiere. A stampede resulted in the death of a woman and left her son critically injured. Following this incident, Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad Police from his home. He was sent to 14-day judicial custody but later released on 4-week interim bail after paying a ₹50,000 personal bond.
