Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has proposed renaming the Old Delhi Railway Station to Maharaja Agrasen Railway Station. In a letter addressed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, dated June 19, CM Gupta urged the minister to consider this proposal. She stated that renaming the station would be a true tribute to Maharaja Agrasen, who is regarded as a symbol of non-violence, peace, and social justice.
According to an NDTV report, the Chief Minister wrote in her letter: “I respectfully request you to consider renaming Old Delhi Railway Station in honour of Maharaja Agrasen. Maharaja Agrasen was a respected historical figure whose legacy has had a deep impact on India’s socio-economic development, especially in Delhi. Naming the station after him would be a fitting tribute to his enduring contributions and would resonate deeply with the sentiments of millions of Delhi residents who hold him in high esteem.”
