India’s cyber security agency CERT-In (Computer Emergency Response Team of India) has issued a major warning for Android users after discovering serious vulnerabilities in Google’s mobile operating system. The new advisory, released under ID CIVN-2025-0293, has been marked as a high-severity alert, directly impacting Android 13, 14, 15, and 16 users.
According to the report, these vulnerabilities could allow attackers to remotely execute malicious code, potentially giving them access to users’ private data or even causing device crashes. CERT-In classified this threat as high-risk due to the possibility of data theft and system damage.
The agency revealed that these issues stem from Android’s internal system components and hardware manufactured by several major tech companies. The affected chipset makers include Qualcomm, MediaTek, NVIDIA, Broadcom, and UNISOC — all of which supply processors for millions of Android devices worldwide. As a result, a large number of users are at risk.

CERT-In’s warning applies to both Android users and smartphone manufacturers. Devices running older or affected Android versions will remain vulnerable until the latest security patches are released and installed. If exploited, these flaws could allow hackers to steal sensitive information or, in severe cases, damage the device completely.
What You Should Do Immediately
CERT-In has advised all Android users to take the following precautions:
- Install the latest software and security updates as soon as they are released by your smartphone manufacturer.
- Avoid downloading apps from unknown or third-party websites until your phone receives the update.
- If you notice frequent app crashes, overheating, or unusual phone behavior, contact customer support immediately.
Staying up to date with official updates is the best way to protect your device and data from potential cyber threats.
