From July 1, These People Won’t Be Able to Book Tatkal Tickets – Railways Change the Rules

Sometimes, when people book train tickets, they don’t get a confirmed seat and the ticket goes into the waiting list. In such cases, many turn to the Tatkal booking option. Tatkal bookings often have a few seats reserved, which increases the chances of getting a confirmed ticket.

However, Indian Railways has now made a major change to the Tatkal ticket booking rules. As per the new rule, Aadhaar authentication has been made mandatory for IRCTC accounts to book Tatkal tickets. Without Aadhaar verification, you won’t be able to use the Tatkal facility.

In simple terms, if your Aadhaar card is not linked to your IRCTC account before July 1, you will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets. You’ll only be able to book tickets through the regular (non-Tatkal) process.

So, if you also use your IRCTC account to book Tatkal tickets, make sure to link your Aadhaar as soon as possible. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Visit the official IRCTC website: https://www.irctc.co.in/
    2. Log in with your user ID, password, and captcha code.
    3. Go to the “My Profile” section and click on the “Aadhaar KYC” option.
    4. Enter your Aadhaar number.
    5. You will receive an OTP on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
    6. Enter the OTP and your Aadhaar will be successfully linked to your IRCTC account.
