What is the story about?
The drama is set around The Table: K-Chef 2026, a made-up survival contest where Korean chefs from around the world compete to be named the best Korean cook. It is a high-pressure setup, with sharp knives, short deadlines, and a lot at stake.
Ahn Hyo Seop plays Kang Han, a chef who spent most of his career working in restaurants abroad. He is also known as Chris K. Han keeps his past to himself, and after an unexpected incident, he moves back to Seoul. There, he becomes the head chef of a restaurant called Familia and enters the contest to represent it.
He gets help from Choi Song-yi, played by Hong Hwa Yeon. She is the restaurant’s hall manager and the daughter of Familia’s owner, who suddenly passed away. Song-yi is determined to protect her father’s legacy, and she works alongside Han to keep it alive.
Rivals and family drama
Every good competition needs a strong rival. Han’s biggest challenger is Cha Woo-jin, played by Chang Ryul. He is the head chef of an elite restaurant called Exception, and he is described as a perfectionist and a culinary genius. The show also features Jung Yoo Jin as the producer behind the contest, a woman who loves food deeply.
The story does not stay only in the kitchen. A tense family and business rivalry is building at Pyeongyeon Group, South Korea’s biggest food industry company. Jang Young Nam plays Chairwoman Moon Hae-seon, who clashes with her ambitious half-sister, played by Cha Ji Yeon. That gives the drama a second layer of power games beyond the cooking.
Who is in the cast?
Along with Ahn Hyo Seop, the lead cast includes Hong Hwa Yeon, Chang Ryul, and Jung Yoo Jin. Jang Young Nam and Cha Ji Yeon join them in key roles. This is also the first time Ahn Hyo Seop is working with Hong Hwa Yeon in a K-drama. Kim Do-hoon has both written and directed the series.
Ahn Hyo Seop has built a reputation for picking different kinds of roles. After Sold Out on You, Final Table is another release for him this year, and it looks quite different in tone.
