Before the introduction of the EPFO Unified Portal, one had to visit different sites, but not anymore. Now, you can access all your EPF account-related details that you need via a single portal. Basically, the EPFO Unified Portal is your one-stop shop for your EPF scheme. So, what does this EPF scheme do?

Well, this scheme allows the employer to deduct a small portion of the amount from an employee’s monthly compensation and add it into the employee’s EPF account. The employer also adds another contribution that is separate from the amount deducted from the employee’s fees. Both of these funds go into the employee’s EPF account every month, and on top of that, the EPF account gets an 8.5% compound interest.

The Two Categories of EPF Unified Portal

There are two categories of EPF Unified portal, and they are as follows-

  • EPF Employer Portal

The EPF Employer portal is specifically designed for the employers, companies, and organizations that provide EPF benefits schemes for their employees. If an organization or company has more than 20 employees, they must give this EPF benefits scheme to their employees, as the Government of India has made it mandatory. But if an organization has less than 20 employees, they don’t have to provide EPF benefits, but they can still do so out of the goodness of their heart. They can voluntarily register to provide the EPF scheme to their employees. The EPF Employer Portal delivers employers with various links and tools to make it easier and simpler to get their work done much faster.

  • EPF Employee Portal

The EPF employee portal is also filled with various tools, services, and documentation to ensure you have no issues when you navigate through the portal. Everything you need to know about EPF accounts, such as account balance, withdrawal limit, or EPF loan applications, is available on the site. You must check for dedicated links under the “Services” tab and find out what you need. Also, if you are unsure about something or cannot find something you need, check out the downloads section. It is filled with all the necessary documentation and FAQs to help you find whatever you need.

To clarify, both the employer and the employee section are available via the same EPFO Unified Portal. One just needs to select employer for employer access and employee section for employee access.
