Dupahiya Season 2 Review: Dhadakpur Still Delivers Laughs, Even When the Story Gets Crowded

Gajraj Rao and the cast of Dupahiya return for a second season full of mobile tower panic, viral fame, and exam pressure, keeping the show's charm intact even as too many storylines compete for attention.

    Dupahiya Season 2 Review

    Dupahiya Season 2 Review: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

Dupahiya Season 2 brings back the easy charm and strong ensemble cast that made the first season work, but juggling too many storylines at once leaves this follow-up feeling noticeably less focused and fresh.

    Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
    Platform: Prime Video
    Genre: Comedy
    Director: Sonam Nair
Cast: Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi

There is something genuinely comforting about returning to a show where the characters already feel like old friends. Dupahiya Season 2 brings us right back to Dhadakpur, the village proudly, and hilariously, nicknamed the Belgium of Bihar, where gossip spreads faster than anything official and even the smallest problem can spiral into full-blown chaos.

The first season found its charm through a simple story and endearing characters, and while this new season expands that world considerably, the magic does not come quite as easily this time around.

Season 2 kicks off with Banwari Jha, played by Gajraj Rao, learning that his previously useless, barren piece of land has been selected for a new mobile tower, suddenly turning it into a potential source of income. The villagers, however, are far from convinced this is a good thing.

Before long, they start blaming the tower for everything going wrong around them, from typhoid outbreaks to genuinely absurd fears about tsunamis. That mobile tower storyline delivers some of the season’s funniest moments, but it is only one piece of a much busier puzzle. Bhugol, played by Sparsh Shrivastava, unexpectedly becomes a social media sensation after posing online as a female influencer.

Roshni, played by Shivani Raghuvanshi, is meanwhile racing against the clock to prepare for her SSC exams, while Amavas, played by Bhuvan Arora, returns with yet another questionable shortcut he believes will help her pass. Inspector Mithlesh, played by Yashpal Sharma, is also back, this time investigating a much bigger paper leak scandal rather than small village mischief.

With so many threads unfolding within a tight seven-day deadline, Dhadakpur once again finds itself engulfed in chaos, though this time, the show occasionally struggles to keep every storyline moving together smoothly.

The cast remains the biggest reason to keep coming back. Gajraj Rao slips effortlessly back into Banwari’s shoes, grounding even the show’s most ridiculous situations with his understated comic timing.

Sparsh Shrivastava is a genuine highlight too, getting plenty of room to flex his comedic chops through Bhugol’s over-the-top influencer arc, which leads to some of the season’s funniest physical comedy.

Bhuvan Arora brings a sincere, earnest energy to Amavas that pairs particularly well against Shrivastava’s chaos. Renuka Shahane returns as Sarpanch hopeful Pushpalata Yadav, bringing real experience to the role even though the character does not always get enough material to leave a strong impression.

Bhojpuri star Dinesh Lal Yadav, known as Nirahua, joins the cast this season and adds a fresh burst of energy, particularly through his involvement in Roshni’s exam storyline.

Director Sonam Nair keeps Dhadakpur looking and feeling exactly as warm and lived-in as it did in the first season, dusty roads, familiar faces, and everyday madness included. The real challenge this time is simply how much the show tries to juggle at once.

Where the first season had one central mystery anchoring everything, Season 2 bounces between the mobile tower drama, Roshni’s exam pressure, Bhugol’s viral fame, and the police investigation, and that constant shifting occasionally causes the story to lose focus, particularly during a sluggish middle stretch where a few jokes get stretched well past their natural shelf life.

The comedy still works best when the show simply lets its characters react to increasingly ridiculous situations, and the villagers blaming the mobile tower for literally everything going wrong remains one of the season’s most enjoyable running jokes.

A few unnecessary Bollywood-style song and dance sequences do feel out of place, though, rarely pushing the story forward and clashing with the show’s otherwise grounded, everyday humor.

In the end, Dupahiya Season 2 retains enough of its original charm to make a return trip to Dhadakpur worthwhile, even if the ride feels noticeably more uneven this time around. Fans of the first season will still find plenty to enjoy here, just with a bit more patience required along the way.
