    Highway toll

Are you also fed up with paying toll charges every time you travel on national highways? Does the cost keep piling up on every trip? Well, there’s good news! The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced a new FASTag Annual Pass that promises to make your travel smoother and more budget-friendly. For just ₹3,000, you can travel through toll plazas on national highways without any extra charges—but there’s a catch: it’s valid only for 200 trips or one year, whichever comes first.

Who Is This Annual Pass For?

The pass is ideal for people who frequently commute on national highways. It will be available from August 15, 2025, and will help you avoid long queues at toll plazas. Just make a one-time payment and drive stress-free. The process of activating or renewing the pass will also be simple via the ‘Rajmarg Yatra’ app or through the NHAI and MoRTH websites.

While the basic features of the pass are already known, there are some important details that many users might not be aware of. Let’s go through everything in detail.

What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass allows vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans to travel across toll plazas on national highways and expressways without paying toll every time. The pass remains active for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever is completed first. The facility will be available starting 15 August 2025.

How to Activate the Annual Pass in Your FASTag Account?

To activate the annual pass, ensure that:

    • Your FASTag is properly installed on your vehicle’s windshield.
    • It is linked to your car’s registration number.
    • Your FASTag account is not blacklisted.

If everything is in order, you can easily activate the Annual Pass.

Where Can You Buy the FASTag Annual Pass?

You can only buy the Annual Pass from:

    • The ‘Rajmarg Yatra’ mobile app, or
    • The official NHAI website.

How Long Will the Pass Stay Active?

First, your vehicle and FASTag will be verified for eligibility. Once confirmed, you will need to make a ₹3,000 payment via the app or website. After successful payment, the pass will be activated on your FASTag.

Validity of the FASTag Annual Pass

The pass is valid for one year from the activation date or 200 trips, whichever comes first. Once the limit is reached, your FASTag will automatically revert to normal status. To continue enjoying the benefits, you’ll need to renew the pass, which gives you another 200 trips or 1-year validity.

What Counts as One Trip Under the Annual Pass?

    • At point-based toll plazas: Passing through the plaza is counted as one trip. So, going and returning will be counted as two trips.
    • At closed tolling plazas: A complete journey, including entry and exit, will be counted as one trip.

    Will You Receive SMS Alerts?

Yes. When you activate the pass, you give permission for the Rajmarg Yatra app to access your mobile number from the bank. This allows the system to send you important updates and alerts via SMS related to your annual pass usage.

Conclusion: The FASTag Annual Pass could be a great deal for frequent highway travellers, but you must understand how the 200 trips rule works to get the full benefit. Stay updated and make sure to track your usage to avoid surprises!
