Delhi Metro fares have become costlier from today. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a slight increase in ticket prices for passengers. DMRC shared the update on social media platform ‘X,’ informing that the new fares came into effect from 25th August 2025 (Monday). Under the revised structure, fares have been increased by ₹1 to ₹4, while the Airport Express Line fares have gone up by up to ₹5.
DMRC said on ‘X’, “The fare structure of Delhi Metro services has been revised from today, i.e., 25th August 2025 (Monday). The hike is minimal, ranging between ₹1 and ₹4 depending on the travel distance (up to ₹5 for the Airport Express Line). The new fare slabs effective from 25th August 2025 are as follows:”
Reason Behind the Fare Hike
According to DMRC, the fare revision was necessary as Phase 4 of the metro project is in its final stages and the maintenance costs are set to rise once it becomes operational. The last fare hike was implemented in 2017, making this the first revision in eight years. Interestingly, DMRC increased the fares without forming a new Fare Fixation Committee, as the previous committee had already granted approval for future fare adjustments without requiring a fresh review.
