Barroz is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language fantasy film marking Mohanlal’s directorial debut. Based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure by Jijo Punnoose, the film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas. Mohanlal stars in the titular role, alongside Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram in key roles. The original score is composed by Mark Kilian, with songs by Lydian Nadhaswaram.
Barroz Release Date
Initially, Mohanlal planned for Barroz to release in theaters by March 2023. Despite an intended trailer release alongside Avatar: The Way of Water in December 2022, this did not occur. In March 2023, the filmmakers aimed for an Onam release, but no official announcement followed. Finally, in November 2023, the release was set for March 28, 2024, but post-production delays pushed it further. Now, Barroz is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 12, 2024.
