Mirzapur The Movie finally hit theatres on September 4, and it did not waste any time giving fans something to talk about. The film has already crossed Saiyaara at the box office, and now the buzz has shifted from opening numbers to what happens next. That is largely thanks to a post-credit scene that nobody saw coming.
For most of its runtime, the film sticks to the world fans already know: guns, power struggles, and the Tripathi family holding onto control of Mirzapur. But it is the ending that has everyone talking. In the post-credit scene, Guddu, Munna and Bablu are at a salon, of all places. Bablu is quietly texting Golu; Munna notices, and things turn playful. Guddu casually mentions he has a girlfriend he is serious about. Munna, curious now, decides they should both say the names of the women they love at the same time.
They count to three. Guddu says Swaranjali. Munna says, Sweety. And just like that, the room goes quiet.
For anyone who has watched the original series, this hits differently. Sweety Gupta, played by Shriya Pilgaonkar, was at the centre of Guddu and Munna’s rivalry back then too. She picked Guddu over Munna, and that choice ended up costing her life.
Munna shot her without knowing she was pregnant with Guddu’s child, and that moment pushed Guddu onto the revenge path that shaped the rest of the series.
This time around, the film seems to be taking the same triangle somewhere new. Instead of repeating what already happened, it sets up a fresh version of the conflict. The scene ends with gunshots, but we never find out what happens right after. No confirmation on who gets hurt, who survives, or how the two men move forward from here.
That is exactly the kind of ending that gets a sequel talked about, and reports are already suggesting one is in the works. If that turns out to be true, this Guddu, Munna, and Sweety triangle could end up being the emotional core of the next film, giving the makers a chance to explore it without simply retelling the same story as in the series.
The film itself is set in 2018, with Kaleen Bhaiya ordering Guddu and Bablu to eliminate the son of an ally who betrayed him, while Munna grows increasingly uneasy about his father trusting the Pandit brothers more than him. Ravi Kishan joins the cast as Babban, adding a new face to the power games.
Jitendra Kumar steps into the role of Bablu, previously played by Vikrant Massey, while familiar names like Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Sheeba Chadha, and Shweta Tripathi return to the franchise.
For now, all we have is a cliffhanger and a lot of speculation. But if the sequel talk holds up, this ending might be one of the most talked-about moments in the franchise.
