All The Truth In My Lies Review: A Messy, Yet Magnetic Bachelorette Drama

All The Truth In My Lies Review: ★★★½☆ (3.5/5)

All The Truth In My Lies is a fast-paced, wonderfully messy Spanish miniseries about a friend group unraveling during a bachelorette weekend, powered by strong performances even as some characters get left underdeveloped.

    Rating: ★★★½☆ (3.5/5)
    Platform: Netflix
    Genre: Romantic Drama
    Episodes: 5
    Language: Spanish
Cast: Itziar Manero, Daniel Ibáñez, Lucía de la Fuente

Weddings tend to bring out drama in even the calmest friend groups, and All The Truth In My Lies takes that idea and runs with it in the most chaotic way possible.

Based on Elisabet Benavent’s novel of the same name, this five-episode Spanish miniseries follows a tightly knit group of friends whose relationships completely unravel over the course of a bachelorette weekend, and it is genuinely hard to look away from the mess.

At the center of the story are Coco, played by Itziar Manero, and Marin, played by Daniel Ibanez, longtime roommates who established very early on that they were strictly friends and nothing more. The series opens with a charming montage showing how comfortable that friendship became over the years, and for a while, it genuinely seems like neither of them wants anything beyond that.

Rounding out the friend group are Gus, a womanizing poet played by Ricardo Gomez, the clingy and bubbly Aroa, played by Lucia de la Fuente, and Loren, arguably the most emotionally mature of the bunch, played by Brays Efe. The whole group has gathered to celebrate their friend Blanca, played by Clara Sans, ahead of her wedding, but it does not take long before old cracks in the group start to show.

All The Truth In My Lies Review

Much of the show’s central drama comes from the tangled dynamic between Coco, Marin, and Aroa, the latter of whom simply cannot let go of her obsession with Marin.

Trapped together in close quarters for the weekend, old tensions rise quickly to the surface, and the will they or won’t they energy between Coco and Marin becomes impossible to ignore.

Manero and Ibanez sell that connection beautifully, relying on small, intimate physical cues rather than big dramatic declarations, which makes their chemistry feel genuinely believable throughout.

Aroa ends up being the show’s most polarizing character, and Lucia de la Fuente plays her with a frantic, increasingly desperate energy that makes her both grating and, oddly, one of the most honest characters in the entire series.

Her refusal to respect Marin’s attempts to create distance is genuinely uncomfortable to watch at times, but it also captures something real about holding onto a relationship long after all the signs point toward incompatibility.

What makes this series work, despite its chaos, is how unapologetically messy and flawed its characters are allowed to be. These are not polished, easy-to-root-for people.

Some moments will genuinely make you cringe on their behalf, but that same messiness is exactly what makes the show feel human and compelling rather than sanitized.

Watching these characters embarrass themselves, hurt each other, and slowly stumble toward some kind of self-awareness is what keeps the series so watchable across its short runtime.

Unfortunately, because so much focus goes toward Coco, Marin, and Aroa’s love triangle, the rest of the friend group, particularly Blanca, Gus, and Loren, end up feeling more like supporting witnesses to the drama than fully realized characters in their own right.

The series also stumbles a bit in its final stretch, wrapping things up with a rushed epilogue that, while containing a few sweet moments, feels tacked on rather than properly earned after everything that came before it.

Set against the backdrop of a chaotic bachelorette getaway, All The Truth In My Lies moves at a brisk pace and rarely wastes a moment across its five episodes, delivering plenty of secondhand embarrassment alongside genuine emotional investment.

Not every character gets the resolution they deserve, but the show’s central trio makes up for it with performances messy and magnetic enough to keep you hooked until the very end.

All The Truth In My Lies is now streaming on Netflix.
