    Sankalp Web Series Review

The Sankalp web series marks the OTT debut of veteran actor Nana Patekar and is directed by Prakash Jha. The Hindi socio-political thriller is now streaming on Amazon MX Player and has received mixed reactions from critics and viewers.

Known for his political storytelling style, Prakash Jha brings a story about power, loyalty, and political influence, supported by a strong cast and intense performances.

    Story of Sankalp

The series follows Kanhaiyalal, also known as Maant Saab, played by Nana Patekar. He runs a Gurukul school in Patna and also manages a UPSC coaching center in Delhi.

Over the years, many of his students have become powerful officers in the system. Some of them include IPS officer Aditya Verma (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), Vasudev Ranjan (Saurabh Goyal), and DCP Parveen Sheikh (Kubbra Sait).

These officers remain loyal to their mentor and often help him maintain influence in political and administrative circles.

The political tension increases when Delhi Chief Minister Prashant Singh (Sanjay Kapoor) and his advisor Waqar Mapillah (Neeraj Kabi) face obstacles created by Kanhaiyalal due to an old rivalry.

Things take a serious turn after a mistaken shooting incident that creates conflict between Kanhaiyalal and his trusted student Aditya Verma.

    Performances

The biggest highlight of the series is Nana Patekar’s powerful performance. He plays the role of Kanhaiyalal with authority and emotional depth, making the character both intimidating and human.

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also delivers a convincing performance as a conflicted IPS officer who struggles between loyalty and duty.

The supporting cast performs well too. Neeraj Kabi adds intensity as the political strategist Waqar Mapillah, while Kubbra Sait appears confident and restrained as DCP Parveen Sheikh.

    What Works and What Doesn’t

Sankalp offers an interesting political premise and strong acting, but the series sometimes feels too long. The show runs for 10 episodes with a total runtime of nearly eight hours, and some episodes feel stretched.

A few plot twists appear convenient, and some story threads remain unresolved. The climax also feels weaker compared to the buildup created in earlier episodes.

Despite these flaws, the series still manages to hold attention mainly because of its performances and political drama.

    Final Verdict

Sankalp is a performance-driven political thriller that benefits greatly from Nana Patekar’s screen presence. While the writing and pacing could have been tighter, the show remains watchable for fans of political dramas.
