Randy Fine, a Republican lawmaker from former US President Donald Trump’s party, has introduced a bill titled the “Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act” in the US Congress. The bill aims to grant legal authority to a future Trump administration to take control of Greenland and grant it US statehood.
According to Fine, the move is necessary to counter growing Chinese and Russian influence in the Arctic region. If the bill is passed by Congress, it would give Trump broad powers to take action regarding Greenland.
‘Trump Can Counter Chinese and Russian Influence’
In a post on social media platform X, Randy Fine said, “Big news! Today, I am proud to introduce the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act, a bill that allows the President to explore the necessary methods to bring Greenland into the Union.”
He added that America’s adversaries are attempting to strengthen their presence in the Arctic, and the United States cannot allow that to happen. Fine claimed that these steps are essential to limit Chinese and Russian influence in the region.

‘US Must Reassert Its Dominance’
The Republican congressman said that Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have made it clear that Washington needs to acquire Greenland to reassert American dominance in the Arctic.
“My bill turns this vision into reality and would give the United States a strategic advantage for the next 100 years by making Greenland an official US state,” Fine said. He further warned China and Russia, stating that “the days of interfering with US sovereignty in the Arctic region are over.”
US Push to Take Control of Greenland
If the bill becomes law, it would provide the United States with the authority to negotiate for or acquire Greenland by taking any steps deemed necessary. Earlier, the White House had stated that Trump believes the US should take control of Greenland to prevent it from falling under the influence of hostile powers.
