Aadhaar card is one of the most important identity documents in India, and now a major change is coming to the Aadhaar update process. According to a CNBC Awaaz report, from November 2025, there will be no need to visit an Aadhaar centre to update your Aadhaar details. This update will make the process much more convenient for users, as they will be able to update their Aadhaar information from the comfort of their homes.
Aadhaar Will Be Updated via OTP from Home
With the new system, Aadhaar updates will be possible through OTP (One-Time Password) verification. Users will be able to use supporting documents like birth certificates, driving licenses, and passports for verification. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming changes.
Current Rules
Currently, if someone wants to update their Aadhaar details – such as name, address, date of birth, or mobile number – they must visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra (centre) in person. Physical presence is mandatory for most updates.
New Rule Effective from November 2025
From November 2025, the Aadhaar update process will go completely digital. Users will only need an OTP sent to their registered mobile number to verify and update details online. This will be especially beneficial for those who are unable to visit Aadhaar centres due to busy schedules or mobility issues.

E-Aadhaar App Expected Soon
According to Hindi Moneycontrol, UIDAI is planning to launch a new mobile app possibly named E-Aadhaar. Through this app, users will be able to update their Aadhaar information – such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number – directly from their mobile phones, without visiting a centre.
When Aadhaar Centre Visit Will Still Be Required
While most updates will be allowed online, for certain changes like biometric or iris scan updates, physical visits to Aadhaar centres will still be necessary. However, for general updates, the new system will save both time and effort.
Key Benefits of the New Aadhaar Update Process
- Will greatly help people in rural areas, where access to Aadhaar centres is limited.
- Being a digital system, it will also reduce the chances of fraud.
- Will make Aadhaar updates faster, easier, and more secure.
This new Aadhaar update system is expected to bring a major convenience to millions of Aadhaar holders across the country.
