    Covid rise in india

India is once again seeing a slow rise in COVID-19 cases. According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, a total of 750 new COVID-19 cases have been reported across the country in the past week. Kerala has recorded the highest number with 400 new cases, followed by Delhi with over 100. The number of active cases in India has now crossed 1,000.

Although the increase in cases has caused concern in many parts of the country, the Health Ministry has urged the public not to panic but to remain cautious. Officials say that the current infection rate is low and hospitalisation needs are minimal. Elderly people, pregnant women, and those with pre-existing health conditions have been advised to stay alert.

    COVID Situation in Different States

In the last 24 hours, Kerala reported 335 new cases, raising its total active cases to 430. Maharashtra has reported 153 new infections, with 209 active cases. Delhi has 99 new cases, bringing its active tally to 104. Gujarat reported 83 active cases, Karnataka 47, Uttar Pradesh 15, and West Bengal 12.

Amid this rise in cases, India’s genome sequencing agency INSACOG (Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium) has identified two new COVID-19 variants – NB.1.8.1 and LF.7. The World Health Organization (WHO) has currently listed them as “Variants Under Monitoring,” which means they are not yet considered dangerous or variants of concern.

On Saturday, the Union Health Secretary reviewed the COVID-19 situation. The ministry stated that most cases are mild and patients are recovering in home isolation. The majority of cases are being reported from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
