Indian Railways is planning to launch the Vande Bharat Express on several new corridors. According to media reports, one of the proposed routes includes the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (previously known as Vande Metro) between Howrah and Digha.
At the same time, there is strong speculation about the launch of a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Pune and New Delhi. Once operational, this train is expected to offer great comfort to passengers and make the journey between Pune and New Delhi smoother and more relaxing.
How Long Will the Journey Take?
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train running between Pune and New Delhi will travel via Agra Cantt. It will cover a distance of approximately 1589 kilometres in around 20 hours. This will offer travellers between Maharashtra and Delhi a new, faster, and more comfortable travel option.
Route and Speed
As per reports from Times Now, the new Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will stop at several key stations along the way. These include:
- Mathura
- Agra Cantt
- Gwalior
- Bhopal Junction
- Khandwa
- Bhusaval Junction
This means the train will not only benefit passengers from Pune and Delhi but also provide a fast and comfortable travel option for people in important cities like Mathura and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, and Gwalior and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

Expected Fare
The Pune–New Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will reportedly have 16 coaches:
- 11 AC 3-Tier coaches
- 4 AC 2-Tier coaches
- 1 First Class AC coach
The estimated fares are:
- AC 3-Tier: Around ₹2500
- AC 2-Tier: Around ₹4000
- AC First Class: Around ₹5000
Timing and Schedule
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will depart from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) at around 4:30 PM and will reach Pune Junction the next day by 1:00 PM. For the return journey, the train will leave Pune Junction at around 3:00 PM and arrive at New Delhi by 11:30 AM the following day.
This new train service will offer great relief to passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Delhi. Travellers will be able to enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep and reach their destination fresh in the morning. This will especially benefit business travellers and tourists who frequently travel between these two major cities for work and leisure.
