6 Warning Signs of Fatty Liver Most People Mistake as Normal

Fatty liver is a growing health concern that often goes unnoticed in its early stages. Many people ignore the symptoms, thinking they are just signs of everyday stress or tiredness. However, the liver plays a vital role in keeping our body healthy, and when it starts to accumulate fat, it can lead to serious problems. Recognising the early signs can help in timely treatment and prevent further complications. Here are six common warning signs of fatty liver that people often mistake as normal.

    1. Fatigue and Weakness – People suffering from fatty liver often experience low energy levels. As a result, they feel tired even without doing much physical activity.

    2. Bloating and Indigestion – Fatty liver can affect the digestive system, leading to issues like gas, indigestion, cramps, and bloating.

    3. Yellowing of Skin and Eyes – When the liver’s function is affected, the level of bilirubin may rise, causing the skin and eyes to appear yellowish.

    4. Heaviness or Pain in the Upper Right Side of the Abdomen – The liver is located on the right side of the body. People with fatty liver may feel mild pain or heaviness in this area.

    5. Trouble Gaining or Losing Weight – Fatty liver can slow down metabolism, causing sudden weight gain in some people and rapid weight loss in others.

    6. Difficulty Concentrating – The liver helps flush out toxins from the body. If it doesn’t function properly, it can impact brain function, leading to poor concentration.
